Frequently Asked Questions

ZUNMARK was founded in 1997 in Yangjiang, China — the global capital of kitchen knives. With nearly 30 years of expertise in knife manufacturing, we have been the behind-the-scenes partner creating products for many top international kitchenware brands. Now, we bring that master craftsmanship directly to you through our own brand.
This is authentic 67-layer Damascus steel, forged around a 10Cr15CoMoV core. The Damascus pattern is created through the forging and layering of multiple steel layers and revealed through finishing — it is not a laser-etched imitation.
The core of the blade is made from premium 10Cr15CoMoV high-carbon stainless steel, surrounded by 67 layers of Damascus cladding. This combination provides a fine cutting edge with excellent sharpness, edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance.
The 10Cr15CoMoV core is heat treated to maintain a hardness of approximately 60–62 HRC. This provides an excellent balance between long-lasting edge retention, cutting performance, and resistance to chipping when the knife is used properly.
The blade is precision-sharpened to approximately 13° per side. This fine cutting geometry reduces resistance and helps the blade move cleanly through bread and other delicate foods.
Unlike conventional coarse-toothed bread knives, this ZUNMARK Damascus Bread Knife combines an exceptionally fine 13° cutting edge with a long 8-inch blade. The design is intended for controlled slicing and precise cutting, making it suitable for bread as well as a wider range of delicate foods and baked goods.
The 8-inch blade is designed for slicing bread, baguettes, sourdough, pastries, cakes, sandwiches, and other foods where a long, clean cutting motion is useful. Its fine edge also makes it suitable for precise slicing beyond traditional bread-knife applications.
Yes. The long 8-inch blade is designed to make controlled slicing motions through bread and baked goods. For very hard crusts, use a gentle back-and-forth motion rather than forcing the blade downward.
Yes. The fine 13° edge is well suited to slicing cakes, pastries, and other delicate baked goods. A smooth, controlled cutting motion can help produce cleaner slices while minimizing unnecessary compression.
The handle is crafted from resin-injected Oliver Wood, combining the natural character of wood with improved dimensional stability and resistance to moisture and warping. Its ergonomic profile is designed to provide a comfortable, secure grip during extended food preparation.
The blade uses high-performance stainless steel, but like other high-carbon Damascus knives, it should not be left wet for extended periods. Keep the blade clean and dry after use. For long-term storage, a thin layer of food-grade mineral oil can provide additional protection.
No. This Damascus Bread Knife is a precision cutting tool designed for bread, baked goods, fruits, vegetables, and other suitable foods. Cutting bones, frozen foods, or using the blade as a pry bar can damage or chip the fine 13° edge.
No. We strongly recommend hand washing. High heat, harsh detergents, and prolonged exposure to water in a dishwasher can dull the fine edge, affect the Damascus finish, and damage or age the premium wooden handle. Hand wash with mild soap and dry immediately after use.
Use a quality whetstone and maintain the original 13° edge angle per side when sharpening. For best results, we recommend professional sharpening when the blade requires more extensive edge restoration. Avoid aggressive sharpening methods that can remove unnecessary material from the fine edge.
Keep the handle dry and avoid prolonged exposure to water or high heat. Hand wash the knife rather than placing it in a dishwasher, and dry it immediately after cleaning. Occasional application of a suitable food-safe wood conditioner can help maintain the handle's appearance and condition.
The blade is 8 inches (20.3 cm) long, while the overall knife length is approximately 13.7 inches (34.8 cm). The long blade provides ample cutting length for loaves, cakes, pastries, and other foods.
Yes. The combination of 67-layer Damascus construction, a 10Cr15CoMoV core, 60–62 HRC hardness, a fine 13° edge, and an ergonomic Oliver Wood handle makes this knife suitable for serious home cooks, professional chefs, and baking professionals.
